Holy Crap! This Watermelon Margarita Is Amazeballs.
My wife said I should try making a watermelon margarita. She makes more money than me so it’s important that I agree to all of her ideas. Actually, it’s important to every marriage for the men to agree to all of the wives ideas, unless they involve vacuuming. We have to draw the line somewhere. So when we inevitably end up vacuuming it’s important that we act like we actually wanted to. So you may as well vacuum with a watermelon margarita.
This margarita is amazing. I can confidently say that if I knew how to make these when I was younger I would have had a much more successful dating life. I would have been on at least my 5th marriage by now, way ahead of everybody. They’re simple, sexy, and absolutely delicious.
Take everything you learned in my perfect margarita post.
Now add a watermelon. That’s it. Ok, bye.
Well, that’s almost it.
What you’ll need -
A nice juicy watermelon - cut into small cubes and seeded (seedless watermelon is widely available).
4 oz blended watermelon
2 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
4 oz tequila
2 oz orange liqueur
2 oz simple syrup
Take the watermelon chunks and throw them in the blender. After a few seconds on high they will turn into a nice slushy mess. That’s pretty much it. Now squeeze the limes, add the other ingredients, shake, and pour. The key to this cocktail is getting a good watermelon. Don’t be too shy to ask the produce guy or gal at your local Vons how to spot a good watermelon. Or just read this.
Some small watermelon chunks could clog up your shaker if you’re using the ones with the small holes for the drink to go through. So make sure it’s good and blended first.
You can play with the watermelon to lime juice ratio depending on your taste buds. The best thing about watermelon is that it pairs well with a lot of other foods. So why not make it a jalapeno watermelon margarita, or maybe a mint and watermelon margarita?
You’re going to end up with a lot of leftover watermelon most likely. So eat it. Or cut out more cubes and freeze them. You can use them as watermelon ice cubes in another cocktail. Watermelon also pairs really well with pork belly. So why not pair this cocktail with some pork belly tacos? Ok, bye.
